I like Pages. I haven't had any problems with it. I haven't used all of the features though. I mostly use it for printing envelopes which works great. It will only get better and I'm sure Apple will add more features like spread sheets and maybe a GUI front-end for SQL.just for the record, i have had a pretty good experience making a couple of flyers and whatnot. yeah, it would be better with some additional features but i think that it is aimed at the less advanced in the publishing world. and on that note, i think it has done pretty well especially with a wide range of templates. i swear those things are a godsend for the non-creative such as myself.
especially when being used on a nice 17" or larger screen, i think that all of the options would be great if they were laid out so they can be viewed at the same time (like on photoshop). this would probably take away a lot of the frustration. I was running through matches this past weekend, and nearly all my settings were medium, and 2d portrait. Using the dedicated graphics card (low end model with 256MB).
It ran fairly well for a beta, I had a few crashes but not graphics related. Upon starting up SC2 the opening menu is choppy, but the game is extremely playable. And even more so if you were to set your settings on low.
Either way it will be exciting come July 27.
(I'm planning on getting the new mac pro, and boosting the graphics, and game it out!):cool:
Great news. BTW, Late "Late '08 Unibody" doesn't have dedicated graphics card ... the graphics cores are apart of the south-bridge & a MOBO integrated piece so to speak. Still that's great news - how is the heat running.

Yes, but, the mac mini is designed as a desktop, since it needs an external monitor. Although, I'm fairly certain, that, as people posted above, this card reader was put in there for apple's video editing customers, since apple does make a nice business in that industry.
Although, the poster's comments still stand, particularly as the mini no longer has a security slot! :eek:

Honda has been building cars in Ohio at least since the early '90s. Had a '93 Civic built in East Liberty or Marysville... can't remember which. Sadly, the Fits (I actually own an '09) come from Japan.
God that Fit is a seriously sexy car. I know a couple of anti-global warming types who believe that humans can never have an impact on such a large planet, but whatever the truth is (Al Gore warning us, or Al Gore making serious bucks as a failed presidential candidate getting rich off of the green movement, anti-global warming types often point to the Honda Fit and Toyota Corolla as cars that have a smaller carbon footprint than the Toyota Prius or yuppie mobile Mini Coopers snotty rich liberals like to drive? And I am a liberal and even those liberals with small or hybrid cars who give me dirty looks because I can't afford their new Prius or mini just drive me nuts.
Anyway, environmentalist or not, what do you think about the Fit's overall city and highway gas mileage? And does it really beat the Prius in overall gas mileage? Toyota also has a very similar small type of car that is totally sexy. To me, small is sexy (but not Smart Car), and I could parallel park easier than my huge SW, and get great gas mileage.

Friday is usually the miscellaneous sessions day, when the less important (or popular I might say) sessions are held. Of course you can leave whenever you want but Friday is still a full day. I would plan on staying the entire day if you can. Leaving Saturday morning is best as you can relax on Friday :)
Last year, in the original schedule, all sessions on Friday ended before lunch and lunch was the last item on the schedule. During the week, they added a couple of repeat sessions in the first slot after lunch. But, still, all sessions were over by 3PM.
I don't expect Apple to post the full schedule 'till a couple weeks before the conference. (I agree it would be nice if they posted it sooner.)

This is the primary design flaw with the iPad. This tablet can't be the normal person's computer unless every normal person has a tech friend/relative to keep the tablet working/updated. So while Woz is correct that the tablet will be the normal person's computer, Apple's iPad is not yet that tablet.
Same for all the iGadgets with an iTunes account attached. Why apple doesn't make the default behaviour "charge" not "sync" and then simply verify that it's not the same iTunes account and "do nothing" instead of the hassle of it hiding all your music if you plug an iDevice into a PC and you're mate decides to click eject for you if your charging off it.
I can understand the need to only offer syncing on a device that isn't internet and wifi enabled because the only way of adding stuff to it is to sync to a computer but for all the other devices, it would be good if it was 100% self-contained.
I'd have no issues getting a used Mac Mini then turning it into a media centre through an LCD TV at a later date because I eventually know a Mac Pro would be my best choice for running Pro Tools 9. Someone who just wants to listen to and buy music or video, send emails, view youTube clips and keep in touch on social networking sites doesn't necessarily need a computer when the iPad does it all. Apple could even offer a way of interfacing their external DVD from the Macbook Air with the iDevices so you can rip your own music to the device itself without even needing a computer.

People are throwing around "Unix" and "Windows" like they used to throw around "RISC" and "CISC". There is no reason of which I am aware why a future version of Windows cannot scale to as many processors as any version of Unix, just like the nasty ol x86 ISA has yielded top-notch processors like the P4 and Athlon.

I think the integration could be used as enticement for customers to use a particular airline over another. It doesn't matter if everyone eventually adopts the technology, as you've built up a reputation and some customers.
Ads or a fee aren't needed as your attracting more revenue, ads and additional fees would be more likely to push people away.

Trust me I served for 21 years and saw waste fraud and abuse, and there aint a dam thing your going to do, as soon as you blow the whistle your career is down the toilet and that is active duty personnel and the civilian workers also.
This about sums it up to the OP you are replying to here. I've been in for 6 years (a bit less than you obviously) but I do concur.

I strongly disagree that these ads are elitist, or even snobbery. The point of the ads is that mac is different. HP can use demonstrations to show how, in a perfect world, their computers can do good stuff with windows. Apple has a different need. Apple does not build commodity computers. Apple is an ALTERNATIVE SYSTEM must differentiate itself compared to everything else out there. The need is to show that there IS a difference, and that Apple represents a very different way of working with computers.
As a recent switcher I can tell you the ads were very effective at delineating my concerns with Windows, and showing me that Mac might be the answer. ( Which, by the way, it was!)

Something I'd like to see is a rackmount SDXC RAID array. Think how many sd slots would fit in a 1U array. I know, probably won't happen, but still interesting to see.

No it wouldn't be better than an ssd, on the contrary it would worse than an HD, sd cards are not optimized for the many small writes that an os performs, nor do they lend themselves well to ntfs or hfs+, and that's why ssd drives that include flash have such convoluted contollers and cost that much more than sd cards, because of the development that goes into them.

And though the hip and trendy Urth Caff� on Main Street does have awesome soup, and he is very into soup, the line is prohibitively long so he suggests Mani's Bakery, which is just a few doors down, as an alternative.

We may all be jumping the gun on this one. Apple says that Lion Server is included in the Lion preview. That doesn't mean it will be included in the final release!
Obviously developers need a copy of Lion Server to test their applications. Just like Mac Developer members can get Snow Leopard and Snow Leopard Server downloads, this is just a convenient way to package up both Lion client and server into one download.

If you don't like it then just make sure you customize the privacy features in your account info.
I suggest this because your friends can 'tag' you in at a location even if you aren't there.
ie - pretend that you are at a stripclub and send it out to everyone......believe me, some people's friends will do stuff like this as a joke....and some will do it out of spite.
Could make for some funny encounters.....HS kids are going to get a huge kick out of this...
